Product information
These sponges come from Zanzibar, Tanzania, and are unique. Nowhere else in the world is this species (Callyspongiidae - Haploslerida) cultivated. The aquafarming methods used have no negative impact on natural sponge populations. Strict care is taken to avoid damaging natural habitats, especially coral reefs and seagrass meadows. The sponge farms are managed by the farmers, mostly single mothers, after they have completed their training. By purchasing these Fairtrade products, you support the coastal regions of Zanzibar in developing and implementing sustainable farming methods that respect the ecological balance of the marine environment.
Ingredients
Natural sponges are free of allergens and are therefore often recommended by dermatologists for the care of babies and sensitive skin. A major advantage of natural sponges over synthetic sponges is their continuous channel system, which allows dirt particles to be efficiently washed away.
Application
The sponges can be used as pleasant bath sponges, for applying or removing cosmetics, or for skincare. For first-time use, hold the sponge under running water until it feels soft and can be easily squeezed.
Sustainability & Environment
Part of the proceeds supports the protection of Zanzibar's coast.
The algae are harvested sustainably, the oils come from wild harvesting.
